New Board members update
Meet Matt
Matt has been a ccha Board member since July 2023.
Please tell us a bit about yourself?
I live in Sussex with my wife and our son. As well as being a ccha Board member, I work for the regulator of nursing and midwifery in the UK (NMC) and volunteer with the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association as their Governance Advisor.
What prompted you to apply to be a Board member?
Access to safe and affordable housing should be a right of everyone in the UK, and having worked in the sector, I know what great and important work housing associations like ccha do. I am also impressed with ccha's community-based approach and how its size means it can focus on the needs of its customers and community. I have worked across a number of sectors, so I bring the best bits of my governance experience to the board table.
What do you do as a Board member?
Having only recently joined, I am still finding out! I sit on the main Board and work on one of the committees. The Remuneration and Nomination Committee ensures we attract and retain the right people at ccha to deliver on our commitments to residents.
What is the most rewarding part of being a Board member?
The most rewarding part is being back in the housing sector and working with and supporting our great colleagues at ccha to deliver much-needed housing and support in their communities.
What are you excited to get involved with over the next year?
As a new Board member, I look forward to seeing our residents and their communities and lending my skills and experience to the great work ccha does.
Meet Pamela
In July 2023, Pamela was appointed to the Renumeration and Nominations Committee.
Can you tell us about yourself, your passions and interests?
I love tea, socialising and chatting. I also love being active and the outdoors by the beach, lake and mountain views!
How long have you been a Committee member?
A few months now. I started in July, so a whole summer of learning!
What prompted you to apply to be a Committee member and what values do you bring to the Board?
I studied architecture, so I am very interested in the built environment and how housing and wider urban design can shape and impact our lifestyles, health, experiences and connectedness. I also worked on social housing policy and regulation within central government. This experience, alongside a design and architectural aspect to housing, means I can bring a different perspective to discussions.
What do you do as a Committee member?
I am on the Remuneration and Nominations Committee, which looks at who ccha attracts regarding skills and development, staff retention and ccha's general governance and operations to ensure that the organisation functions smoothly for residents.
What is the most rewarding part of being a Committee member?
Knowing that you are making a difference to the wider contribution of ccha, which makes a massive difference to our residents.
What are you excited to get involved with over the next year?
With me only being part of the Board a few months, I look forward to learning more and seeing ccha grow.
