Activities for young resident's

Legacy Youth Zone

ccha has now been a patron of the Croydon Legacy Youth Zone for one year of a three-year commitment. We’re keen to promote the Zone’s long list of activities to our younger residents (aged 8-19) which include a variety of sports, music, drama and social events – all in one place where you can also pick up a hot meal for £1!

One of the main reasons for getting involved with the Youth Zone was because we were able to offer school holiday club facilities to residents as well as many evening and weekend sessions. Membership is £5 a year and then it’s 50p on the door for each visit. There are no extra costs involved. We have given out a number of free membership vouchers and still have some left. If you’d like to take advantage of a free membership then please contact citeam@ccha.biz by email to apply.

Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 all of these fantastic activities are currently on hold. Once we have news that the Youth Zone is re-opening, and on what basis, we’ll share this with you.

Supporting the community

Even though the Zone has been closed, the Legacy team has still been here for us, delivering an emergency response to our local communities. This has included direct support by phone with a dedicated ‘talk2us’ email for young members to get in contact with youth workers to share any concerns, questions or thoughts they’re having during this challenging time. The team has made more than 250 calls to young members, to check how they’re doing and to see if there’s anything they need support with.

The Legacy team has also created and uploaded fun and engaging social media content and provided essential practical support such as free food and home activity packs for those in need. They have been very busy:

  • Distributing a total of 3,800 meals into the community
  • Sending out more than100 activity packs to young people, giving them fun and engaging things to do at home such as craft activities, books, skipping ropes, colouring pencils and stationery , bouncy balls, playing cards, sensory fidget toys, glue sticks and glitter.
  • Posted 100 Instagram videos, giving the young people we support engaging online content, including: - Supportive messages from some of their favourite celebrities - Sign language lessons - Yoga sessions - Workout tutorials - Digital editing classes - Cook alongs - DIY PPE making lessons
